Current Programs In the Works Mentoring: Zion is working with Mason City Youth Task Force and has matched 21 mentors and mentees. There is a great need for male mentors as there are currently several boys waiting for a mentor. Female mentors are always needed as well Call Becky Finstad for details at (641) 357-6429. Habari Yako: Once a month on a Thursday night, the Director of Benevolence Ministries presents a documentary film on a current topic or issue the world is facing. The idea is to raise awareness and give discussion to topics not always covered in everyday news or discussions. Acts 29...And Beyond: Each April Zion hosts the Acts 29 Conference. Acts 29 is an opportunity for Zion to share experience in Leadership and Vision, Small Group Ministries, Student Ministries and Worship Ministries with other congregations. Click Here to see PDF Brochure..... Youth Mission Trip: Every summer Zion supports a youth mission trip. This trip provides an introduction to mission evangelism and an opportunity for Zion youth to experience God in a new way. Seminary Scholoarships: Zion Benevolence has set up a fund to encourage and support Zion Partners in seminary studies that lead to ordination and pastoral duties. Community Kitchen: Together with other area churches, Zion supports the Clear Lake Community Kitchen both with benevolent dollars and volunteers. Y.W.A.M./D.T.S. and even S.O.M.E.: Over the past two years, Zion has had ten youth enter the field of mission work. The Zion youth signed up with Youth with a Mission and completed Discipleship Training School and then spent 3 months "in the field" doing outreach, service work, and evangelism. Three of the youth continued on with additional training in the School of Missions and Evangelism and one, Emily Brager, is now on staff with YWAM leading mission groups. Benevolence has allocated money to help support youth that feel God's call to do this mission work. After School Tutoring: ZAP (Zion's After-school Program) started October 3rd and utilizes some 25 volunteers, substitutes and van drivers to help tutor students. We have a waiting list of students and are seking more volunteers so we are able to help more kids.
