There are versions of the story of the gospel that are not beautiful, good, or true. Even if they are "Biblical." Interesting thought, isn't it? Don't you want to know what versions of the story these are and if you're living your life according to them? This is why chapter 2 in The Magnificent Story is important. In chapter 1, James Bryan Smith introduces us to the "transcendentals" -- beauty, goodness, and truth. He invites us to see, with Christian tradition, how important these are for helping us sort out the story our lives should be following. Now, in chapter 2, he applies these to some of the most common false versions of the gospel.
