For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100:5
We're very excited to announce the launch of BUILD TO LAST — a capital campaign with the ultimate goal of updating the current Zion on 4th building and adding needed amenities to allow everyone to belong at Zion. Serving as our church home for the bulk of the last 150 years, we are excited to pour the necessary resources back into the Zion on 4th building to ensure it's built to last.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Our mission is that every person in North Iowa knows Zion as a kingdom-minded church with the desire to incorporate mission and community into everything we do. We desire our members and visitors to know they BELONG to a community, BELIEVE in and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior, and BECOME disciples who make Jesus famous.

Our team developed a campaign name, identity, and collateral that would engage the Zion community to come together and give generously towards a $250,000 cause over the next year. We arrived at "Build to Last" and found this name captured the campaign vision, aligned with Zion's core message and paid tribute Zion's strong foundation from the generations that came before us. Whether Zion is a place to BELONG, BELIEVE OR BECOME, it is our prayer that we can come together and continue fulfilling God's mission for our church.

Over the past fifteen years, God has graciously provided funding and talent to add a new worship space, classrooms and gathering spaces. These are now used weekly thanks to your faithful contributions. With the recent focus on our contemporary worship space, it is time to update a few key elements of the traditional Zion on 4th building to help us continue pushing forward our current mission.

Simply put, Build to Last is a campaign about engaging and caring for those that are a part of Zion and those who have not yet walked through the doors.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BUILD TO LAST?

THE PROBLEM

OUR BUILDING IS OUTDATED.
The Zion on 4th building is used heavily each week with each square inch having a purpose; however our building has become outdated.

Lives are transformed within these walls every Wednesday night at ZKids, at our Sunday morning worship service, during numerous wedding ceremonies every year. We also welcome the young through baptisms and honor the lives lost through funerals every year.

THE PLAN

THREE-PHASE TRANSFORMATION.
The three-phase plan comes down to continuing to fulfill God's mission for our church. We plan to do this by inviting the entire church to experience a life-changing, faith-elevating encounter with God through engaging with Build to Last.

We trust God for $250,000 in generosity over the next year to accomplish our three-phase initiatives for Zion.

THE SOLUTION

ADVANCE GOD'S KINGDOM.
It's not about the building, a campaign or $250,000. It's about securing a safe place for healing, transformation, empowerment and having a place to walk through life together.

When the plan is fully in place, we will have secured our capacity to follow God's lead in bringing transformation to North Iowa.

PHASE 1

EAVES & ELEVATORS

During PHASE 1 of the campaign, our funding will first be prioritized to updating the eaves at the Zion on 4th building. Mechanically, the primary purpose of eaves is to protect the walls of the building from rainwater. Protecting the building's  walls is literally protecting God's house and the ministry that happens within these walls.
The next priority of PHASE 1 is adding an elevator system at our Zion on Main building. The Blackbox and gym areas remain unusable to those who use a wheelchair. Help us break down any physical barrier that may be inhibiting someones ability to participate and belong at Zion. To help cover the financial burden of adding an elevator, we are actively looking into grants.

We want to break down any physical barrier that may be inhibiting someones ability to participate and belong at Zion.

PHASE 2

HEATING & COOLING

The focus of PHASE 2 of Build to Last campaign will be our heating and cooling systems at the Zion on 4th building. Updating both of these systems will ensure comfortable meeting spaces year round. The building is used multiple times a week year round. ZKids on Wednesday night, Traditional worship on Sunday morning, weddings and baptisms on weekends and funerals throughout the week.
In addition to the multiple ministry purposes, this building is also our home base with all offices housed out of the Zion on 4th building. With the recent focus on our contemporary worship space, it is time to update the heating and cooling systems at the Zion on 4th building to help us continue pushing forward our current mission.

PHASE 3

Friendship room Membrane ROOF

And finally, a place to land with a roof over our heads. The basic function of any roof is to offer protection from the elements for people and their possessions. Roofs offer strong insulation and are an absolute key elements in ensuring the building is here to last. The specific roof that needs updating is the roof over the Friendship Roof. This is membrane roof, also known as a bladder roof.
In the next two years, we will need a new roof to offer physical protection over the building.

Although our reach is not bound the the physical limitations of the building, it does ensure all of us at Zion have a place to call home. To come and belong, believe and become.
