Connections Director

Zion is seeking a Connections Director/Pastor who is committed to loving Jesus and wants to be a part of developing a healthy church culture. The Connections Director needs to be passionate about connecting people to groups where they can encounter Jesus and experience life change. They will champion our mission of “Belong. Believe. Become. Be Loved.”

Position Overview
  • Provide oversight, leadership, care, and development of small group ministries. 

    • Recruit, train, and provide support for group leaders.
    • Track and keep updated small group data.
    • Implement programs and initiatives to ensure small group engagement.
  • Provide oversight, development, and administration of all connections 

    • This includes first impressions and connections, guest communication, assimilation processes, Zion Essentials class, and all varieties of small groups.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Leader Care Event and any other leader support/training initiatives.
  • Provide oversight, development, care, and vision for all adult ministries, including but not limited to the Prayer Team, Hospitality Team, Dock Cafe Team, men’s ministry, and women’s ministry.

    • Help build these teams by building strong leadership.
    • Provide assistance with their different activities and events.
  • Develop and implement a coaching/mentoring program to help grow strong leaders who can assist members in the discipleship process.  

Position Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, support, and provide recognition for your volunteers
  • Promote and cultivate the importance of discipleship and our mission through all connection ministry groups.
  • Maintain and create efficient systems for assimilation and connection with guests.
  • Provide sermon notes and/or leaders guides based on the weekly message.
  • Manage weekly prayer submission and connection cards.

Additional
  • Articulate, champion, and share the importance of Zion’s overall mission and vision amongst the staff and church body.
  • Work scheduled hours, communicate with the Executive Director and Executive Pastor when you can’t be to work/meetings on time, appointments, vacation, and sick days. 
  • Check/Respond to emails/texts/phone calls daily (working hours). 
  • Attend scheduled meetings, department meetings, sermon read-through, and staff meetings and exemplify staff core values. 
  • Create and maintain a budget.  Order supplies as needed and turn in receipts.
  • Communicate when you need help or training. 
  • Provide spiritual leadership for your team. 
  • Directing/leading your volunteers.
  • Do something to appreciate your volunteers – Celebrate what God is doing. 
  • Vision Casting, planning, and prayer over the ministry.
  • Worship, read books, podcasts, etc., to grow as a leader. 
  • Podcast team, attend sermon read-throughs when necessary.
  • Attend at least one corporate worship service a week.
  • Attend all church functions, worship services, and meetings as requested by the Executive Team.

  • Highly relational and loves to work with people.
  • Be a catalytic leader with great people skills; a team player excellent at working with staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from others. 
  • Is supportive, cooperative, teachable, and humble.
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven and multi-priority environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Administrative/organizational skills (ability to organize work, set priorities, be detail-oriented, be a good time manager, and carry out responsibilities with minimum oversight.)
  • Ability to delegate well and raise up teams.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly professional.
  • Friendly and sensitive to a wide range of people from all different ages, races, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • An affinity for the development of leaders.
  • Ability to lead others and create/sustain organizational structures.

Education & Experience
  • Experience in ministry is a plus.
  • It is helpful to have experience with teaching and preaching.
