Magnificent Story: Discovering the Truth

The truth is bigger than we think. It really shouldn't be domesticated, shrunk down, or controllable. Yet, sometimes we do this, even with the truth of Jesus. When the truth is a person, God incarnate, and not ideas about God, discovering the truth becomes about something other than knowing information.

We can reduce Jesus, who IS the truth, to ideas about Jesus. Or sometimes only parts of Jesus' life and story can become the whole story. If Jesus is not just the one who forgives, but the one who is God among us, the one who is the truth and who reveals true humanity, then discovering the truth means taking Jesus seriously as the true life. That means "love your enemies" or forgive 70 x 7 becomes not just interesting or helpful ideas, but what living in accord with truth looks like. And it looks good and beautiful, because it is how the beautiful, good, and true story goes.
